Two Valleys, One Private Journey
Skardu and Hunza are the two names most people have in mind when they picture northern Pakistan, and this trip covers both without doubling back. You start in Baltistan, with its lakes, the Deosai plateau in summer and the fort and village of Shigar. Then you cross by road through Gilgit to the Hunza valley.
Hunza has a different feel. The restored Baltit Fort stands above Karimabad, and Altit Fort sits on its rock over the river. Further up the valley, Attabad Lake formed after a landslide in 2010, and the Passu Cones rise above the villages of Gojal. In season, and if you’d like, the road continues to the Khunjerab Pass on the China border, at 4,693 m.
You have the same private vehicle and driver across both regions and one plan shaped with you on WhatsApp. Mountain roads are checked before departure, and a buffer day at the end protects your onward journey.
