$75 / vehicle
On a solo or two-person trip, the jeep is still priced as a private charter — you pay the same $75 a group of six would split. This rate is set from an average of current Skardu 4×4 jeep-hire listings for a full-day private Deosai run (roughly PKR 15,000–20,000, cross-checked August 2026) plus the Deosai National Park entry fee. Your exact total is confirmed on WhatsApp before you book.
Tour Highlights
✓ Cross the “Land of Giants”
Deosai sits at an average elevation of roughly 4,114m — one of the highest plateaus on Earth.
✓ Sheosar Lake (“Blind Lake”)
A high-altitude lake and the tour’s main photo stop, with roughly three hours to explore.
✓ Sadpara Lake & Ali Malik Top
Two scenic stops on the route in, right at the edge of Skardu city.
✓ Genuine Brown Bear Country
Deosai is a Himalayan brown bear stronghold, alongside marmots and ibex — sightings are possible, never guaranteed.
✓ A Driver Who Knows the Track
Local drivers who cross the Deosai route regularly, ruts, river crossings and all.
✓ Back in Skardu by Evening
A same-day round trip — no camping gear or overnight packing required.
Your Day, Stop by Stop
This is a single-day round trip, so the “itinerary” is really one continuous drive with planned stops. Timings below are approximate and depend on road conditions and how long your group lingers at each stop.
Pickup in Skardu
Your driver collects you from your Skardu hotel or guesthouse ([PH_PICKUP_TIME — confirm the standard morning departure window with ground ops]). Bring layers — mornings on the plateau are cold even in summer.
Sadpara Lake & Ali Malik Top
The route climbs out of Skardu past Sadpara Lake and over Ali Malik Top, the entrance to the Deosai plateau, with your first wide views of the plains.
Onward to Sheosar Lake
The jeep track continues across the open plateau to Sheosar Lake — the round trip from Skardu covers roughly 120km, with the full drive typically taking 5–8 hours depending on road conditions.
Time at the Lake (~3 hours)
You’ll have approximately three hours around Sheosar Lake to walk the shoreline, take photos, and eat the packed lunch you bring along. Ask your driver about a short extension to Bara Pani if time allows — it isn’t guaranteed on every trip.
Return Drive to Skardu
Same route back over Ali Malik Top, with arrival in Skardu in the early evening. If the road is unusually slow, your driver will keep you updated — build in a flexible evening rather than planning anything time-sensitive right after.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Deosai jeep safari from Skardu really cost?
Northern Discover’s private day-safari rate is from $75 per vehicle, based on an average of current Skardu 4×4 jeep-hire listings plus the Deosai National Park entry fee. It’s priced per vehicle, not per person — see our Skardu trip cost guide for how this compares to other Skardu costs.
Do I need a 4×4, or can I take a normal car to Deosai?
Yes, a 4×4 is required. The track is unpaved with river crossings and rough patches that a standard car cannot handle safely. This is exactly what your jeep and driver are for.
How long does the day trip take, and is it too rushed?
Plan for 8–11 hours round trip, including roughly three hours at Sheosar Lake. It’s a full day, not a rushed one — but if you’d rather have two full days on the plateau, ask us about an overnight camp instead. See our Skardu to Deosai distance guide for the full breakdown.
When is the best time for a Deosai jeep safari?
Deosai is generally open from June through September, with wildflowers and the best wildlife-viewing odds in July and August. The plateau is closed by snow roughly November through May, so trips outside the June–September window aren’t possible.
Will I actually see a Himalayan brown bear?
Maybe, but we won’t promise it. Deosai is one of the last strongholds of the Himalayan brown bear in Pakistan, and marmots and ibex are also present, but wildlife sightings on a single day trip are never guaranteed.
Is there mobile signal on the Deosai Plains?
Coverage is patchy to non-existent for most of the route once you leave Skardu city. Let someone know your plan before you go, and treat this as a mostly offline day.
Can I turn this into an overnight camping trip instead?
Yes — message us on WhatsApp and we’ll quote a camping version with extra time at Bara Pani and Sheosar Lake. This page covers the same-day version only. For background on the park itself, see our Deosai National Park guide.
